Being an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) is a very rewarding job that has the potential of earning you a good salary. However, it is important that you understand the reality of becoming an ADI, so here is a little information that will allow you to make an informed decision about whether this is the right career for you.
The benefits of becoming a self-employed ADI are quite personal although some apply to everyone;
• You are your own boss
• You decide your working hours
• High Job satisfaction
There are certain skills and attributes that will benefit you as an ADI;
• Clear and logical communication skills
• Patience, understanding and tolerance
• Ability to coach and not chastise
• Good listening skills
• Good observation skills

Some of these can be taught, however some of these are parts of your personality and these are harder to learn or change.
